Privacy Policy

Temu AGEffective: 29 May 2026Last updated: 5 June 2026

We wrote this to be read, not filed. If you have a question after reading it, write to us — we will answer it plainly.

Who we are

Mechane is an independent editorial platform that makes artificial intelligence understandable for curious, non-technical readers. It is published by Temu AG, a Swiss corporation. We are the data controller for all personal data collected through this website.

You can reach us at privacy@mechane.io for any privacy-related matter.

What we collect and why

We collect as little as possible. Here is the complete picture:

Newsletter subscription

We collect your email address when you sign up for our newsletter. We use it for one thing: to send you the newsletter. Nothing else. We do not enrich it, profile it, or share it.

Site analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how our content is read. This tool is cookieless and does not track you as an individual. It produces aggregate data — page views, general traffic patterns — that helps us understand what is useful to our readers. No personal data is collected or stored through it.

Donations

If you choose to support Mechane financially, you will be directed to a payment page handled entirely by Stripe. We do not see, store, or process your payment details. Stripe acts as an independent data controller for that transaction. Their privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not run advertising. We do not sell data. We do not share your information with third parties beyond the processors named in this document.

Our legal basis for processing

We process your email address on the basis of your consent — specifically, the double opt-in confirmation you complete when subscribing. You initiate it, and you confirm it. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.

Site analytics are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate reading behaviour. Because Vercel Analytics collects no personal data, no individual consent is required.

Third-party processors

Two companies act as data processors on our behalf:

Resend

We use Resend to deliver the newsletter. Your email address is stored on their platform solely for this purpose. Resend processes data in accordance with GDPR. Their privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Vercel

Our website is hosted and its analytics are provided by Vercel. Traffic data is processed on Vercel's infrastructure. Their privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Stripe

Stripe processes donation payments independently. We do not receive or store any payment data. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

How long we keep your data

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed to the newsletter. When you unsubscribe, your address is removed from our list. If you would like it deleted sooner, write to us and we will do so promptly.

Vercel Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous — there is no personal record to retain or delete.

Your rights

Under both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access. You can ask what data we hold about you.
  • Correction. You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete your data.
  • Portability. You can ask for your data in a portable format.
  • Objection. You can object to how we process your data.
  • Withdrawal of consent. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter, or by writing to us directly.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy — for example, because we introduce new features that collect new data — we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify subscribers by email. Reading the newsletter is, among other things, a reliable way to stay informed.
